For over 8 years, the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards (ASFAs) have set a benchmark for the African fashion fraternity. The Awards are known for their ability to recognise, honour, inspire and set trends in celebration of a Global Fashion Agenda. By awarding outstanding fashion creatives, the ASFAs is a true celebration of fashion and style that brings together Africans on the entire continent and in the diaspora together in one evening of Glitz and Glamour, on Africa’s biggest red carpet. Since its inauguration in 2013 by Brian Ahumuza, this fashionable event is held annually in the pearl of Africa – Kampala, Uganda.
2022: The Awakening
For the 8th Edition, the Awards returned with a bang on 16th December under the theme “The Awakening”. The show was hosted by Sheila Gashumba and Ethan Kavuma, breaking a record for the biggest red carpet the ASFAs has ever known.
The headlining showcase was by Eric Raisina from Madagascar, who was also honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Other showcases were from Nigeria’s Mai Atafo, South Africa’s David Tlale, Monica Kansiime and Shebbah Kasami Priscilla from Uganda, and South Sudanese designer Rajah Keji, whose showcase shines a fresh perspective on South Sudan as a home of abounding talent, not war.
Aamito Lagum receives the trailblazer Award for pioneering young African models into the global modelling industry and Mitchel Omamteker is honoured with a Positive Change award for her work through Malengo Foundation, an NGO that uses fashion to cater for the needs of disabled and vulnerable community members.
2019: The Stars
The 7th Edition was a standard gala with performances, showcases, and star-studded red-carpet appearances from the likes of Jidenna, David Tlale, Ozwald Boateng and others. Jidenna received a Star Icon Award, as the British fashion designer Sir Ozwald Boateng was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award and David Tlale went all out on a stellar fashion showcase. High-profile guests including First daughters Diana and Natasha grace the award ceremony.
2018: Fashion is Power
The 6th edition of the awards, under the theme Fashion is Power, is hosted by Kenyan radio and television personalities Anita Nderu and Tracy Wanjiru. Featured fashion showcases from Nigeria’s Mai Atafo, South Africa’s David Tlale and Laduma Ngoxokolo, Uganda’s Anita Beryl of Beryl Couture, Alex Alecool of Alecool Clothing and Kkoolo. A humanitarian Award to Rio Paul for his contribution to Tanzania’s fashion and music Industry and a tribute performance by Lilian Mbabazi to her former spouse the late Mowzey Radio.
2017: The Fashion Takeover

2013: Mens Explosive Fashion Awards
The annual Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards is born
Ugandans descend upon the MTN Arena in Lugogo to attend the first fashion award event in Kampala. It’s attended by many fashion aficionados including internationally prominent and renowned designer Oswald Boateng.
